Welcome to Lamoille North, where improved student achievement is our number one goal!
It's getting to be that time of year again: snow, ice, and the possibility of school delays or cancellations.During times of inclement weather, school closings will be communicated first through local area radio and television stations, like WCAX or WPTZ.
School Messenger coming July 2016
Lamoille North Supervisory Union is improving the system it uses to share notices, school closings and emergency notices with parents and the public. And text messages will be used as part of those broadcasts, sent to any cellphone listed as a student contact number.
Due to Federal regulations, to receive texts from your school or district, parents must give us permission to do so. To give that permission is very simple; You just send a one letter (Y) text message to 67587 on your cellphone to have that number receive those text broadcasts. This permission is not required for any voice-based broadcasts sent through this system.
Each of LNSU’s schools uses the messaging system in different ways, some daily and some less often, and all of our schools use the messaging system for any weather closing or other emergency. Receiving such messages by text is an easier, faster and more efficient way than having to answer the phone or retrieve a voice message.
LNSU hopes that parents of our 2016 – 2017 students will want to receive those broadcasts as texts and will give us permission to do so by texting Y to 67587 at any time in June. On July 5th, a one-time text message seeking that permission will be sent to all of the cellphones listed in our student contact file that have not previously given permission. After that, LNSU cannot send a text message to any number that has not given permission, but parents can add their cellphone to the system at any time, again by texting Y to 67587.
If you have any questions about what numbers are listed in your student’s contact file, contact your school registrar. If you have any questions about this new service or how we can better connect with you, please email Steffen Parker at the LNSU central office, .
